Explore the contents of the Sesquicentennial Time Capsule, tightly packed with items donated from all 15 cities in the County, all County elected officials, and most unincorporated areas.
"Open This First" Envelope: An envelope with the words "Open This First" written on it was placed on the top of the donated items in the time capsule before it was sealed. It is our hope that the person(s) opening it in 2052 will read the contents of this envelope before doing anything else.
Cities: All 15 cities in Salt Lake County donated items for the time capsule. Salt Lake County will surely flex and change over the next 50 years—the items provided by these entities will help preserve the memory of what we have today.
Elected Officials: All Salt Lake County elected officials donated items for the Sesquicentennial Time Capsule. What will our future elected officials think? How will their responsibilities in 2052 compare to those of today?
Unincorporated Areas: Most community councils of the unincorporated areas of Salt Lake County donated items for the time capsule. Can you imagine what Salt Lake County will look like in 50 years? Will today’s unincorporated areas belong to cities? Will new cities be formed?
Media: Many of our friends in the media were on hand to document and celebrate the dedication of the Sesquicentennial Time Capsule. We recognize them here in appreciation of their coverage and support of this project.
